Stuff We Like: Drawing from Sound, Sound from Drawing

Via Today and Tomorrow.net, two conceptually opposite projects:

First, a nifty flash tool from Ze Frank, used for creating drawings with sound. Low volume to turn counter-clockwise, medium to go straight, and high to turn clockwise. Try it out here.

And second, an installation from Amit Pitaru called the Sonic Wire Sculpture. Unfortunately, you can’t use it online, but there is a nice demonstration video below (it gets especially interesting towards the end):

Here’s something fun. A very thoughtful YouTube user uploaded a 2003 documentary about the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, complete with archival footage of Dr. Who theme composer and my longtime steady girlfriend Delia Derbyshire.
