And Then… - Katherine Gorman

Over the course of the festival attendees were encouraged (by posters and also calling cards that will be handed out) to call a google voice number and tell the next step in a story.

Katherine Gorman has been working in radio since high school and was an associate producer for WBUR’s Here & Now.

Footfollow - Brian House

Footfollow was an experiment in patterns and constraints, data and control. Participants took steps and followed audio cues using headphones with careful consideration for rhythm and timing.

Brian House is a media artist whose work traverses alternative geographies, experimental music, and a critical data practice. He is currently studying media theory and computer music for a PhD at Brown University and teaches in the Digital + Media program at RISD.

Re-Wired - Amelia Marzec

Re-wired is is a wearable device that translates ambient sound into haptic feedback using bone conduction technology. After losing hearing in one ear due to a tumor, Marzec became aware that experiencing sound through bone conduction was possible; she decided to adapt bone conduction technology into a helmet, in order to share her emerging haptic perception of sound without the necessity of surgery.

Amelia Marzec has created several prototypes that address sound and communication. She holds an MFA from the Parsons School of Design and was a resident at Eyebeam Art and Technology Center.
