Handheld Recorder Ensemble – Byron Westbrook

A small group explored the process of recording sound as performance, using movement of the body and recorder as an instrument to “play” sounds heard via headphones through the recorder.

Byron Westbrook is a sound artist working with site-specific installations and unique listening formats to activate architecture and community. He has presented work at Clocktower Gallery, Diapason Gallery, LMAK Projects, ISSUE Project Room, ExitArt, (NYC), ICA London (UK), The LAB (San Francisco), VIVO MediaArtCenter (Vancouver), O’ (Milan), among many others. He has performed in ensembles of Phill Niblock and Rhys Chatham.
