Would you choose to be 13 again? To be so tragically serious about your emerging independence and identity? To return to your pliability peak, seeped with raw creativity? How come everything we created at that age was so earnest and completely mortifying? Ladio’s going to give you the chance to rewrite your adolescence, or live the adolescence you never had. Join us for a slumber party where attendees will be asked to create on-the-fly audio art. By tapping into both communal teenage memory and personal experience, we will collaboratively document our youth.

Featuring:

• YOUTEEN: Record a video to send to your 13 year old self. A school portrait shot from the future. Uploaded live to Vimeo.
• Seven Minutes in Audio Heaven: A closet with a microphone, a person you’ll be assigned to at random. Interview, make-out, perform an improvised drama, advice, questions, schemes, scams and confessions. You can do no wrong. Ideas can be assigned or made up.
• First Kiss Postcards: We know, we know. It makes you shift and groan with humiliation and totally want to barf. Or maybe you’re a lucky one and your story will make everyone swoon. Either way. Write, illustrate or otherwise tell the tale of that first lip smack and send it to the Ladios on a postcard to be assembled with other melodramas. No matter how benign, wretched, public, private, romantic, paralyzing, sticky, entangled etc. etc. relive it. write it down. and know others are doing the same. We’ll have postcards but feel free to bring your own.

PLUS: best frenemies: an audio installation, pillows, friendship bracelets, a ouija board, slambooks, and more.

This is really a slumber party. Anyone can come by for a while then head home, but the real fun starts if you stay the night. Bring your sleeping bag, pajamas, scrunchies, etc.
